The family is planning to head to Disney World on Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. Normally, there would be large crowds there, but we are hoping that because of the economy, lots of folks will be at the stores getting deals on their Christmas gifts, rather than spending money somewhere else!
The evening Extra Magic Hours on that day will be at EPCOT. That's good, because EPCOT is really nice at night, and all the shops will be open. Our favorite place to hang out is in the Japan courtyard when the fireworks start. The fireworks have not changed in years! The amount of (jet fuel?) they use to bring up the flames in the water is amazing! Go in the Japan store (under the castle is the food section), grab some soda and rice crackers (osembe), find a spot in the center of the courtyard, and enjoy! The extra hours will let you enjoy walking around until midnight or so. Don't forget the wristband if you are a hotel guest!
Last month we enjoyed the Food and Wine Festival. Gotta watch that, though. It's really crowded, and people get drunk! Mom doesn't like that some people REALLY get a bit crazy, especially since Disney is supposed to be a family place. There are booths all over the place, and every country has a special menu that they serve for under $10. Last year, the food at Japanese was really good, but this year they just served different types of sushi.
The holiday decoration should be going up now, but they won't turn the lights on until after Thanksgiving. We'll post some pictures as soon as possible!
TIP OF THE DAY:
Hummingbirds have been seen on the flowers in the front section of EPCOT. They look like large gray moths darting around the red flowers. If you see these, don't go after them, for they will get angry. Also, please don't let little children try and pet the squirrels. Why do parents think this is cute thing to do? As the sun goes down, take a look at all the bunnies that come out in the grassy areas in the front section of EPCOT. Maybe we'll get a picture of them!
